What this policy covers
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use ReceiptRadar, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have over your data.
We take your privacy seriously. You are a gig driver — your financial data is sensitive and we treat it that way.
What information we collect
Information you give us directly
- Account information — your name, email address, and password when you sign up
- Driver profile — the platforms you drive for (e.g. Uber, DoorDash, Skip the Dishes), your province, and your vehicle information
- Income data — earnings you enter or import from your gig platforms
- Expense data — receipts you upload or photograph, and manual expense entries you create
- Mileage data — odometer readings and trip logs you record
- Receipt images — photos of receipts you upload for AI scanning
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — which features you use, how often, and when (for improving the product)
- Device information — your browser type, operating system, and screen size (for mobile optimization)
- IP address — collected automatically when you access the app
Information from third parties
- Google — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
- Gig platforms — any income data you manually enter from Uber, DoorDash, or other platforms. We do not automatically pull data from these platforms without your action.
Payment information
Subscription payments are processed by Stripe, a certified payment processor. When you subscribe:
- Stripe collects and stores your credit card details directly — ReceiptRadar never sees your full card number
- We receive only a payment confirmation and the last 4 digits of your card for your records
- Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment processing: stripe.com/privacy
Why we collect this information
We use your information only to provide and improve ReceiptRadar:
- Creating and managing your account → Name, email, password
- Generating your CRA-ready reports (T2125, HST summaries) → Income, expense, and mileage data
- AI receipt scanning → Receipt images
- HST / ITC calculations → Expense data, province
- Calculating your real take-home income → Income and expense data
- Processing your subscription → Handled entirely by Stripe
- Sending you product updates and tax reminders → Email address
- Improving the product → Anonymized usage data
We do not sell your data. We do not use your financial data for advertising. Ever.
Who we share your information with
We share your data only with the services needed to run ReceiptRadar:
- Supabase — our database provider, hosted on Canadian servers
- Anthropic — powers the AI receipt scanning and Ask AI features (receipt images and financial queries are processed through Anthropic's API)
- Stripe — processes subscription payments
- Vercel — hosts the ReceiptRadar application
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.
We may disclose your information if required by Canadian law, a court order, or a lawful request from a government authority.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on Canadian servers (Supabase Canada region). We chose this deliberately — your financial data stays in Canada.
How long we keep your data
- Account and financial data — kept for as long as your account is active, plus 7 years after deletion (to match CRA's recommended record-keeping period for self-employed individuals)
- Receipt images — kept until you delete them or close your account
- Usage logs — kept for 90 days, then deleted
If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.
Your rights
Under Canada's PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) and, for Quebec residents, Law 25, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Deletion — request that we delete your account and personal data
- Portability — request your data in a portable format (JSON or CSV)
- Withdraw consent — you can close your account at any time
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@receiptradar.ca. We will respond within 30 days.
Cookies
ReceiptRadar uses only functional cookies — the kind needed to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
Children's privacy
ReceiptRadar is intended for adults (18+) who are working as gig drivers. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of ReceiptRadar after a change means you accept the updated policy.
